CornishClan is designed around generating our family history interests for all ages of our present family Members. Each family member, as part of the Family Clan, can be involved in researching our past family history and generate, for future generations, a picture of our present and future family history. Be it the family story you heard as a child, a relation you meet, paperwork you found, infact anyth ing to do with our family research will be helpful. Our research will never end as new generations arrive so if there is any area of research that is uncompleted please let us know and we can research that area for you. Our emphasis is upon all our family moving backward into the past. The other emphasis is upon them moving forward from the present to the future as we assemble our research of the past, and detail an account of the family today, that may be handed down to the family of tomorrow. You become genetically unrelated to a direct ancestor, meaning you share no detectable DNA with them, within 10 to 11 generations (approx. 200–300 years). While you are genealogically related to thousands of ancestors, the genome only has enough space to inherit DNA from a small subset; thus, you likely share no genetic data with many ancestors only 10 generations back. Missing Research/Spelling Differences can be attributed to several factors: Language Barriers: Immigrants may have had their names Anglicized or simplified upon arrival, leading to variations in spelling. Clerical Errors: Early census records were completed by hand, relying on phonetic spellings for names they weren't familiar with. Transcription Errors: Errors can occur when records are transcribed or indexed, altering the spelling of names. Modernization: Some families may have chosen to change or simplify their names to fit in better with their surroundings or to modernize an old-fashioned name. To overcome these challenges, genealogists often use wildcard characters in search queries, consider phonetic variations, and research the entire family to connect the dots. It's also important to be aware of all likely options for name spellings, including phonetic ones and misspellings, to ensure not missing any important entries. Contact Us
